Extent of water outages across south Inishowen revealed

first_imgSinn Féin councillor Jack Murray has called for a complete upgrade of the water supply line from the Eddie Fullerton Dam to South Inishowen.Cllr Murray made the remarks after he and Senator Pádraig Mac Lochlainn received correspondence from Irish Water which outlined the full extent of water outages this year.Cllr Murray said “There were four significant water outages in South Inishowen this year. These outages ranged from 663 properties being without water for 26 hours in January to 2092 properties being without water for 2 hours in August. “That is a huge amount of people who are without a water on an all too regular basis.“It is clear to me that the pipe from the Eddie Fullerton Dam which supplies Fahan, Burt, Bridgend, Burnfoot, Muff and Newtowncunningham is not fit for purpose. Its upgrade needs to be prioritised by Irish Water.“Senator Pádraig Mac Lochlainn and I have been in regular contact with Irish Water on this issue pushing for the upgrade to take place.“In their latest response to us, Irish Water have confirmed that they are continuing to prepare an Asset Needs Brief along with Donegal County Council in order to identify key criteria regarding the performance of the supply line. It is expected that the Assets Needs Brief will be prepared by Christmas 2016 or early January 2017. “The importance of this line is no obvious and I would again call on Irish Water to make this upgrade their number one priority in Donegal.”Extent of water outages across south Inishowen revealed was last modified: November 1st, 2016 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)last_img read more
