first_imgHarold Parkey opens Parkey Sharpening Service.by Tracy McCue, Sumner Newscow — If you are need of a sharpening your favorite wood shop or gardening tool, Parkey Sharpening Service on 321 E. 10th Street is the place for you.Harold Parkey has opened Wellington’s newest business offering the service of sharpening the blades of chain saws, circular saws, garden shears, hedge clippers and lawnmowers.“I am a woodworker, and this seems like a natural fit for me,” Parkey said.People may remember Parkey for building an elaborate tree house for his young triplet daughters in the backyard. Today, other Wellington residents can do the same with Parkey’s sharpening blade skills.Parkey said there are not too many people who offer the skill these days. There are only a couple of businesses in Wichita and one in Haysville. There had been a person who had sharpened tools in Wellington but that business is no longer in operation.Parkey hopes to take advantage of the obvious need.How to get to Parkey Sharpening Service: It’s rather easy, the business is right across the street from the Wellington Middle School. He has his shop in his garage on the north side. There is a sign out front.What if Parkey is not there? No problem!
