This week’s four day extravaganza includes everyone from bead wholesalers to designers and statement-making stylers.Terry Henry exhibited nature-inspired jewelry made with organic and inorganic materials and will host classes this Friday and Saturday. These delicate creations are from her “stream of consciousness” line.Lillian Todaro displayed her stunning bead sculpture – what she calls wearable art – alongside the numerous books she has written on the subject. These time consuming pieces are one-of-a-kind and some take over 50 hours to create but she is happy to share her craft and get others beading.Nature was a recurring theme for designer Barbara Garwood, who has been working with women in remote Mongolian villages for over 25 years to preserve craft and create art. Her new line includes preserved orchids from Thailand and Vietnam, hand set with precious stones.The show includes over 100 workshop classes that guests can sign up for on the spot. There is plenty to explore and learn and some free demonstrations as well.The Pasadena Bead and Design Show is open to the public. $1 billion Oakland Estate land blocks now for sale

first_imgThe first blocks are now available in a new $1 billion Scenic Rim masterplanned community in Queensland which will eventually consist of 2000 homes.The 58 lots in the first release at Oakland Estate, a 300ha site at Beaudesert, are priced from $185,000 with blocks ranging from 595sqm to 1109sqm.Work is already under way on a new school, which will open in 2017, and a recently approved shopping precinct which will ultimately include a supermarket, tavern, takeaways and a service station.An over-50s retirement village is also included in the masterplan.White hot: Stockland Cairns hits market with $230m price tagDeveloper James Robinson of Robinson Projects says most buyer inquiries are from locals wanting to upgrade their homes, or Gold Coast and Brisbane residents seeking a new community that blends a semi-rural lifestyle with urban connectivity.“It’s so rare to find a brand-new community of this scale – complete with education, retail, commercial and lifestyle facilities – right at the doorstep of an established town like Beaudesert,” Robinson says.The first blocks are now available in the $1 billion Oakland Estate at Beaudesert.“Beaudesert is on the cusp of unprecedented growth, with up to 18,000 jobs set to be delivered in the Bromelton State Development Area, just 6km from town, over the coming years.”Rail company SCT Logistics, which has committed to a $30 million freight precinct adjacent the Sydney-to-Brisbane rail line, was recently announced as anchor tenant at the Bromelton industrial precinct.Other developers also have projects in the pipeline, including Aquis which plans to convert Patinack Farm in nearby Canungra into a major resort and equestrian precinct.“Oakland Estate will play a key part in this next chapter of growth,” Robinson says.Developer James Robinson at the newly released Oakland Estate.
