WHITTIER – Daniel Castro, one of three finalists for the vacant position of president of Rio Hondo College, has dropped out, officials said Monday. That means only two of the top candidates – Ted Martinez Jr. and Monte Perez – will participate in an open forum from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the campus, 3600 Workman Mill Road. Residents, students and faculty will get a chance to meet them and ask questions. “Nothing’s going to change,” said Maria Elena Martinez, president of the Rio Hondo College board of trustees. “The process will continue. We still want to see if we have a candidate for president between these two finalists, and that’s that.” College officials said they were unaware of Castro’s reasons for withdrawing for consideration for the job.
